A warning has been issued over removed manhole covers on a West Cumbrian coastal path.
Whitehaven’s coastguard rescue team received reports yesterday Tuesday May 30 that some of the manhole covers near Saltom Bay have been removed without reason.
The removed covers have been spotted just off to the side of the coastal track heading down to the old Marchon outlet pipe at Saltom Bay.

The team said that local residents have raised the issue with local authorities so the covers can be made safe.

In the meantime, the team added that people using the path should take care walking or letting dogs off their lead in the area.
