People in Whitehaven are urged to report anti-social behaviour and crime to police following issues raised with officers at a recent meeting.
Cumbria Constabulary said at a multi-agency meeting, partners said there were problems in Whitehaven town centre, specifically Lowther Street, St Nicholas Gardens, and New Street.
They reported anti-social behaviour, alcohol-related issues and drug offences. But, the force said, it had only had two reports in the last month.
A spokesman added: “In recent weeks officers have been proactive in the area which resulted in the arrest and charge of a man for breaching his criminal behaviour order on two occasions.”
Carlo Bone, 38, of no fixed address, is due to appear in court on June 23.
The spokesman said: “The community beat officers for Whitehaven will be focusing on the areas identified to address the issues longer term but in order to do so we need reports from the public of anti-social behaviour and criminality within the area, no matter how small.”
Sergeant Dave Macdonald said “Community reporting is vital for us to provide an effective policing response. If communities do not report incidents to us on issues in their area, we may never become aware of it as a problem.
“Reporting incidents allows us to build a pattern, target the issue and work with our partners to address them.”
