It was quite a game for 17-year-old Reegan Scott of Cockermouth seconds yesterday as he scored his maiden century at Seascale.
Cockermouth had won the toss and elected to bat and an opening partnership of 61 between captain Andrew Dodds and young Scott set up Cockermouth for a good total of 230 for 8 in their 50 overs.
While wickets continued to fall around him the youngster batted superbly for his maiden century and was the last batsman to fall for a splendid 132 suggesting he is a young man to watch out for in the future.
Seascale were always in the game but when Dodds claimed the big wickets of Adam Brown and Jack Barwise in the same over, Seascale struggled to keep up with the required rate and just fell short on 209 for 8
But spare a thought for the only disappointed person in the Cockermouth camp – Reegan’s mum Kelly normally scores for the Seconds but was away for the weekend and missed his first century!
