Obua Mugalula, whose hat-trick helped Workington Reds win the County Cup last season, is staying at the Borough Park club.
Mugalula had an outstanding run in the County Cup competition, starring from his very first appearance – when he scored with virtually his first touch at Windscale – until going home with the match ball after the 9-1 win over Penrith.
In between were other good performances against Carlisle United and Carlisle City.
His chances in the NPL West promotion-winning side were limited but manager Danny Grainger feels “there is something there” in the player that can be worked on.
Mugalula, 23, was recommended to Reds by their former loanee Millanic Alli, after he had previously played in Bolton’s youth set-up and with St. Helens in the North West Counties League.
A popular member of the Workington squad, Mugalula said: “I came in a bit late last season but really enjoyed it, so much that I had to stay again.
“I’m looking forward to working hard with the best group of players, to give both us and the fans a good season.”
