Whitehaven’s Coastguard Rescue Team were called to the town’s marina after drunk naked men were spotted jumping into the water.
The incident took place on Saturday June 10 in the evening and teams attended after 999 calls were received expressing concern for the individuals.
Whilst swimming around and jumping from the Sugar Tongue, the intoxicated men were also seen drinking alcoholic drinks.
Members of the crew attended to make sure the swimmers were safe and safety advice was given as they were leaving the marina.
The team added that swimmers should be aware that cold water shock is still a risk in hot weather and that alcohol can have an effect on swimming capability, which can be a deadly mixture.
