Kendal Town are looking for a new number two after the departure of assistant manager Andy Marshall.

Club chairman Michael O’Neill said: “Andy joined us from Millom and did a really good job alongside our manager Jimmy Marshall, who is no relation.

“But he now feels that he is ready to take on a manager’s job himself so he has left us and we wish him all the best wherever he goes.

“In the meantime Jimmy is looking for a new number two and is hoping to appoint someone, possibly from the Preston area.”

Kendal have announced a busy pre-season programme of friendlies with nine confirmed so far ahead of the North West Counties’ start date of July 29.

The Mintcakes kick off on June 24 at Caton Utd and follow up on Saturday, July 1 at home to AFC Blackpool.

They have a Wigan Athletic Under-23s side at Parkside Road on Wednesday, July 5 and Whitehaven are the visitors on Saturday, July 8.

On Tuesday July 11 Kendal will visit Lostock St Gerard’s before a visit from Oldham Athletic Under 23s on Wednesday, July 12.

On Saturday, July 15 they will visit Carlisle City before finishing off with two home friendlies – Penrith (Tuesday, July 18) and Blackpool Under-23s (Saturday, July 22).
