Workington Comets are looking for revenge on Sunday when they race their second away match in the National Development League.
Mildenhall Fen Tigers play host to the Comets, fresh from a 49-421 win at Northside last month.
It’s only the second away meeting the Comets have tackled, and were good 48-38 winners at Berwick in the first.
Since their home defeat by the Fen Tigers, the Comets got back to winning ways with last week’s 50-39 home win over the champions Leicester.
Comets team boss, James Denham was pleased that the Comets were able to bounce back last weekend.
He said: “It’s great to have responded after last week and beaten the champions but credit to Leicester for staying in the contest for so long.
“As for this weekend quite a few of our lads have rode at, or for, Mildenhall in the past so I’m hoping the boys can go out there, do the job and get a result from the match – which we are certainly capable of.”
Mildenhall will be without Josh Warren due to concussion, but have secured the guest booking of Mickie Simpson for the clash against the Comets.
In-form Comets reserve, Luke Harrison is no stranger to West Row. Last season he made history as a 15-year-old debutant for Mildenhall in the Play Off semi-final last year by recording a 12 point full maximum and is relishing the challenge of returning with the Comets.
Luke only turned 16 yesterday and has had two double figure scores in his last two appearances for the Comets.
Fellow reserve, Elliot Kelly was part of the Mildenhall’s NDL League title winning team in 2021.
Elliot missed last weekend’s home clash against Leicester due to concussion and the 12-day concussion regulation – but will return to the Comets septet for the clash at Mildenhall on Sunday.
He will ride at number two and the full Comets line-up is: 1, Connor Bailey; 2, Elliot Kelly; 3, Sam McGurk; 4, Luke Crang; 5, Ace Pijper; 6, Luke Harrison; 7, Harry McGurk
By road from Workington to Mildenhall the distance for travelling fans is said to be 297 miles but the riders are scattered all over the country and some will have considerably less travelling-time.
The only downside after such a beautiful spell of weather is that showers are forecast for Mildenhall on Sunday.
