Two sports came together at the Valentine Ground yesterday for the Cumbria Cricket League clash between Workington and Carlisle.
The match was sponsored by Workington Town staff and friends, who enjoyed a great day and an entertaining game.
Carlisle won by two wickets after a game that ebbed and flowed with a win for either side, as well as a tie, all possible results at one stage.
Town coach Anthony Murray was among the Town group attending. He enjoys watching the game after being an opening bowler and number four batsman while at school.
“I think it’s great for the community here in Workington when all the sporting clubs can help each other – cricket, rugby league, football and rugby union.
“I think we all have to help and support each other and it was a pleasure to be involved today,” said Murray.
Town are in action this afternoon at Derwent Park against the bottom side London Skolars.
