Two Lake District restaurants have been named among the top 100 in the UK.
The annual Estrella Damm National Restaurant Awards highlight the country’s top places to eat as voted for by an elite academy of chefs, restaurateurs and food writers nationwide.
Simon Rogan’s L’Enclume at Cartmel makes the list at number 30 while the Forest Side in Grasmere is number 60.
The awards has an elite and authoritative judging academy, using a panel of over 200 experts drawn from across the industry.
The UK is split into 11 regions, with members of the academy voting for the top seven restaurants that they have dined at in the last 12 months, weighted in order of preference.
The results are compiled, and the top 100 list of the best restaurants is created.

Predominantly London-based, the awards say about the three Michelin starred L’Enclume: “Few restaurants have made more of a mark on the UK’s culinary landscape than Simon Rogan’s Lake District flagship, its distinctive brand of modern yet naturalistic cooking having been replicated in dining rooms up and down the country with varying degrees of success.”
The one Michelin starred Forest Side’s head chef Paul Leonard “Makes good use of the hotel’s bijou but still bountiful kitchen garden as well as ingredients grown and reared on local farms to create four and eight-course menus that showcase the best of what the Lake District has to offer,” the awards said.
