Former Workington Town coach Leon Pryce has left his coaching role with Championship leaders Featherstone Rovers who are hoping to go full-time.
Rovers have Super League ambitions and say that Pryce has a full-time job away from the club and can’t make the necessary commitment under a new operating model.
Pryce, 41, was recruited as an assistant ahead of the season by former Helens team-mate Sean Long when he was appointed head coach by Rovers.
In a statement Featherstone said: “Leon leaves with our best wishes. He has made a significant contribution to the team’s preparations throughout the season as well ads being a key player in establishing an environment the players have relished.
“We understand that Leon has a full-time job away from rugby and that it is in his family’s best interests that he cannot make the change to a full-time coaching role.”
Capped 17 times as a Great Britain international Pryce played nearly 500 games as a professional, notably with Bradford (204) and St Helens (139).
He was Workington’s head coach across the 2018 and 2019 seasons, in charge for 40 games in which the side won 24 and lost 16.
