A woman has appeared in court accused of threatening to take revenge against a witness who gave evidence in her brother’s murder trial.
Rianna Hull, 31, faces two allegations which arise out of incidents said to have taken place in Carlisle on October 26 last year.
One charge alleges that Hull threatened to take revenge on a woman who had given evidence in court proceedings; and because of what she knew or believed it is alleged she threatened to inflict violence upon the woman and her family.
This is alleged to have been against a background of a crown court trial involving the defendant’s brother, Kane Hull.
A second charge alleges that Rianna Hull committed a racially aggravated assault by beating against a different individual.
Hull, formerly of Brookside, Carlisle, pleaded not guilty to both charges when she appeared at the city’s crown court this morning.
Appearing alongside Hull in the dock was 39-year-old Leon Lavelle, of Oakleigh Way, Carlisle. He pleaded not guilty to the one charge he faces. This alleges racially aggravated intentional harassment, alarm or distress.
Both Hull and Lavelle are now due to stand trial in front of a jury at the crown court. This hearing is due to take place in the week of November 27.
In the meantime both Hull and Lavelle have been granted bail. There is one bail condition, which prohibits contact with any prosecution witnesses.
