Kendal Town have been back in action at the start of a nine-match programme of pre-season friendlies.
Jimmy Marshall’s men won 8-0 at Caton United when the game was part of a fun day organised by the West Lancashire League club.
As it happened the day was a great success, if not much fun for the Caton team on the pitch as Kendal won comfortably.
A trialist striker completed a first-half hat-trick by banging in a 33rd minute penalty which gave the Mintcakes a 3-0 lead at the break.
Steve Yawson got the scoreboard moving with the fourth goal four minutes into the second-half before another trialist headed home the fifth.
Goals in the 61st and 70th minutes helped Yawson complete a hat-trick and before the end Ben Thomas played a neat one-two with a trialist before slotting home the eighth and final goal.
Kendal are back in action on Saturday with a home game against AFC Blackpool.
