A South Lakes golf day raised £24,500 for St John’s Hospice.
Now in its 10th year, the event at Windermere Golf Club was sponsored by South Lakes Windows, Porsche South Lakes and Lars Communications and saw 32 teams comprising 128 players taking to the course.
The event is renowned for its fun atmosphere and unique approach, with Jagerbombs and Prosecco from Mint Café Lancaster and pies by The Bakehouse Kendal served at the halfway point, followed by a meal at the clubhouse
The winning team was captained by Steven Lancaster from main sponsor South Lakes Windows with a winning score of 97. Second place was taken by Piningtons with a very close score of 96 points followed by Jelly Tots, captained by Jill Santamera with a score of 96 points after a backcard playoff.

The combined efforts of the raffle and auction contributed towards the sum raised, with prizes donated by many local and national businesses including Royal Troon Golf Course and Archerfield Golf Club.

St John’s Hospice is based in Lancaster and cares for people in the South Lakes.
Catherine Butterworth, director of income generation at St John’s Hospice, said: “It’s a real credit to all the golfers for turning out to support their local hospice in difficult times and a it is real testament to our supporters for their continued dedication to ensure we can continue to provide our many hospice care services to patients and families in the South Lakes. This is a popular event on the hospice calendar for players and the wider community.”
