A Cumbrian 17th century coaching inn is on the market for £1.6 million.
Gosforth Hal Inn on Wasdale Road in Gosforth was built in 1658 and includes a stone spiral staircase leading to the bedrooms.
The Grade II listed property has been restored and has a number of original features, including sandstone walls and oak beams.
It has a lounge, bar and restaurant, plus a beer garden with room for 90-plus people. The main house has four bedrooms and a suite and the hotel’s annexe, built in 2010, has 13 bedrooms.
It is being marketed by Christie & Co, which said: “The property is located three miles from a large company that employs around 8,000 contractors looking for local accommodation and the business already has a healthy relationship with them.
“The owners currently focus on bed, breakfast and evening meals leaving an opportunity to build a lunch time market.
“There is scope to build a separate dwelling, additional letting rooms or pods in the grounds at the back of the building. The apartments could easily be converted into letting rooms by converting the living areas into en suite bedrooms.”
