Barrow have signed the 22-year-old Maidenhead United striker Emile Acquah on a three-year deal.
In the season just ended Acquah scored 13 goals in the National League and he was regarded as one of the most promising young players at that level.
He won the players’ player of the year award for the 2022–23 season and was also top scorer and has switched to Barrow for an undisclosed fee. His form last season earned him an England C cap.
He had completed two years and played over 70 games with Maidenhead following a move from Southend United where he came
After signing for the Bluebirds, Hackney-born Acquah said: “I’m happy to be here, I’m delighted It’s all been sorted now and I can’t wait to get going.
“Coming off the back of a good season last year I couldn’t wait to make the step up and after speaking to the Manger, the Chairman, and the Sporting Director it seemed like a good move for me.
“I think I’m only getting better at the moment, and I think after last season I’ve got some good momentum to do well in this league.”
Barrow Sporting Director Ian Wood said: “I’m really happy to get this signing over the line. Emile perfectly fits the profile of the type of player we want at this club. On the pitch, he’s a forward who loves to score goals and gets in great positions, whilst off the pitch he’s a lovely lad with a really bright future.”
“I want to put on record a big thank you to Alan Devonshire and Maidenhead for making this deal as smooth as possible. I wish them the very best for the future.”
