A Carlisle man was unmasked as a cocaine dealer after being caught in possession of the drug at a city shopping centre.
Lee Thomas Field, 39, was detained at The Lanes in December 2019 by police who had been called to deal with reports of a disturbance. He was found to be in possession of several individual cocaine deals weighing in at just over 3g.
Evidence of cocaine supply emerged in the form of text messages when a phone recovered from Field was analysed.
Appearing at Carlisle Crown Court remotely over a video link from custody, Field admitted one offence of being concerned in the supply of the class A drug. His offending occurred during the course of three months between September 9 and December 23 2019.
Field’s guilty plea was entered on a formal basis which was unchallenged by the prosecution, the court heard.
The case was adjourned until Friday of this week Recorder Tony Hawks said he would pass sentence after hearing more about Field’s offence and his personal circumstances.
In the meantime Field, of Caslin Way, Carlisle, was remanded in custody by the judge, who told him: “You have had the good sense to plead guilty. This all happened some time ago now.”
