Cash-strapped Whitehaven Rugby League club have announced an important long term deal with Bounty Competitions as their official competition partner.
The new deal, which was agreed this morning, brings ‘significant investment’ and the involvement of a long-term commercial partner which has the best interests of Whitehaven at heart.
Calvin Davidson, on behalf of Bounty Competitions, said: “I really wanted to get involved and wanted to help my home town club.”
A board spokesman said: “We would like our supporters to keep their eyes peeled for the many future competitions that will support, not only Whitehaven Rugby League club, but also Bounty Competitions.
“The board of directors would also like to put on record sincere thanks to Calvin, Leanne and Cobi.”
Whitehaven will be hoping that more investment in the club will follow, and that fans will back the club on the terraces for the remaining fixtures.
They resume tomorrow afternoon at the LEL Arena against Bradford Bulls, who traditionally have strong away support. The hope is that the magic gate figure of 1,200 can be surpassed.
They have three more home games left after Sunday – Barrow (August 21); Halifax (September 3) and Toulouse (September 23).
