Workington Comets crashed to their heaviest defeat of the season, going under 59-31 at Edinburgh Monarchs Academy.
It meant the Scots took the aggregate point after they had overturned a 53-37 defeat at Northside in what was the reformed Comets opening meeting.
With the weather knocking out other meetings in the north there was some surprise the National Development League match went ahead as scheduled but all 15 heats were completed.

The big disappointment for the Comets was that they only produced one race winner in guest Lee Complin and did not earn a single heat advantage.
On a busy night, with the Comets using rider replacement for injured skipper Luke Crank, 16-year-old Luke Harrison did best with 10 points from his six rides.

Operating as heat leader young Harrison earned his side points in every ride with four seconds and two thirds.
Complin had also scored in each of his first four rides, with that one win, two seconds and a third, before he fell in the final race and was excluded with the Edinburgh side awarded a 5-1.

If there was any consolation for the Comets it was that reserve Harry McGurk, so lacking in confidence so far, had his best return earning six points and a bonus from six rides.

Number one Connor Bailey was due to ride at Redcar, but the meeting was one of those called off, but he will be among three Comets riding at Glasgow this afternoon in the British Under-21s final.

Sam McGurk and Ace Pijper will also be involved in a meeting that includes the top young talent in British speedway.
