A walker had to be airlifted to hospital after falling while out on a West Cumbrian beach.
The walker, who was with a group of friends, was heading into Fleswick Bay when they fell and injured their leg.
Emergency services, including Whitehaven Coastguard Rescue Team, St Bees RNLI, Maryport Coastguard Rescue Team and the North West Ambulance Service were called after the incident, which happened yesterday, July 31, at around noon.
Whitehaven Coastguard Rescue Team said: “Through our routine local knowledge and connections with local farm landowners, we were able to quickly access the casualty to make an assessment and treat the patient.
“Coastguards working alongside the RNLI crew were able to administer pain relieve and treatment, before packaging the casualty in our stretcher ready for extraction.
“Meanwhile, NWAS paramedics were brought to scene to work alongside our medics.
“Due to the nature of the injury, our officer in charge was in discussions with our co-ordination centre to seek Coastguard rescue helicopter support to rapidly extract the casualty to hospital.”
The beach and cliff top paths in the area were cleared of public and a safety cordon established by the coastguards on scene.

The team added: “The casualty was stretchered to a safer area ready for the helicopter arrival and a landing site was prepared, as well as readying for the possibility of a rapid winch recovery and high-line. The helicopter soon arrived and was able to be expertly landed on the beach, where the casualty was handed over for onward journey to hospital.
“A fantastic multiagency response, working alongside partner agencies and local farm owners, to ensure the safest and fastest extraction of the casualty to the next level of care could be achieved. We wish the casualty a speedy recovery.£
It was the sixth callout for the Whitehaven team this week.
