Workington and District Camera Club have been reflecting on a very good 2022/23 season.
Throughout the winter there had been a good mix of speakers, practical nights and competitions, finishing in April but continuing through summer with various outdoor events.
All members who entered pictures in the competitions throughout the season got some good feed back from the judges and most of those who weren’t lucky enough to be placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd received a number of commended and highly commended pictures which is very encouraging especially to newer members who are not used to entering.
In the two-way battle against Dalton PS (formerly Morton), the competition was very tight with Workington winning by a margin of just one.
The NCPF Western Area Battle saw Workington come third out of eight clubs, behind Dumfries and Keswick, which saw them move up from fifth last season.

In the NCPF Annuals Competition (Northern Counties Photographic Federation) among the individual entries one member won an award for the best overall projected digital image.
Six other members received highly commended for their entries while in the beginner’s section two members were also highly commended for their images.
In the club awards Workington finished 3rd out of 21 in colour prints; 15th out of 22 in mono prints and in the digital they finished 2nd out of 28.
For the PAGB (Photographic Alliance of Great Britain) Workington entered prints and digital images in both the Nature Competition and the GB Cup for small clubs.

In both sections several members scored well for the images submitted, and in the GB Cup Workington finished in sixth place.
A club spokeswoman said: “Our friendly club would welcome anyone interested in photography no matter how experienced to come along and join our members at Bridgefoot Village Hall on a Friday night.
“The first meeting is on Friday September 8 7.30pm. All details and the programme can be found on the website www.workingtonanddistrictcameraclub.co.uk
