Furness retained the Robin Dunn Memorial Trophy at the Cumbria League’s T20 finals day when they beat old rivals Workington in a thrilling finish.
It was the third year in a row in which Furness had beaten the West Cumbrians to lift a trophy so significant to their club.
Previously both Furness and Workington had been comfortable winners of their semi-finals to set up the repeat final.
Furness rattled up 181-4 against Cockermouth, who got nowhere near that in reply while Workington beat Lindal Moor by seven wickets with 11 balls to spare.
Kwi amateur Davis Mills had been the star of the show, taking 5-5 off his four overs and then steering Workington home with 38 not out.
But Workington struggled badly early doors in the final when they were reduced to 17-5 and the fact that they reached 98-9 after their 20 overs was largely due to Kristian Moffat (21) and Sam Bates (19) while there were a couple of big sixes from tail-enders Ryan Clubley and Ben Scott.
When Furness batted they were restricted early on by some tight bowling and fielding from Workington and when they ran out Mark Daly the south Cumbrians were teetering on 55-6.
It was a crucial stage of the contest but Furness responded well and professional Yash Dubey played a masterful knock of 47 not out to steer his side home off the first ball of the final over.
