A 1-1 draw at Accrington Stanley ensured Barrow stay unbeaten three games into the new League Two season.
But it needed an 87th minute equaliser from substitute Emile Acquah to preserve that record.
It was the second game in a row in which manager Pete Wild’s use and choice of subs has paid off for him.
The Bluebirds owed their 2-1 win over Sutton on Saturday to goals from substitutes Acquah and Jamie Proctor.
This time it was Junior Tiensia who fed the ball into fellow substitute Acquah and he did well to pick his spot and drill the ball into the far corner of the net.
In a game shy of goalmouth excitement there hadn’t been a shot on target until the home side went ion front on 36 minutes. A cross from Tommy Leigh was headed down by Jay Rich-Baghuelou, and after rebounding off David Worrall found Sean McConville.
The nearest Barrow came to an equaliser after that was when Ged Garner tried his luck from range and it dropped just over the bar.
It was a livelier second-half but the chances were few and far between, with the points looking to be staying with the home side – until Acquah’s late heroics.
This was the first time the two sides had met in the Football League since season 1961/62 when Accrington resigned, in the March, from Division Four because of heavy financial problems.
