Carlisle are firm favourites now to retain their Cumbria League Premier Division title.
In a crucial game at Furness they beat their nearest rivals by eight runs in an exciting finish when they had looked to be easing comfortably to a big win.
Carlisle had made 169 in 49.5 overs and had Furness reeling at 37-5 before Mark Daly (61no) breathed life into the home side and almost shepherded his side to a sensational win.
At the completion of their 50 overs they were 168-9 – Daly still there with last man Josh Shaw (0no) – after putting on 23 runs since the fall of the ninth wicket.
Michael Slack completed a starring role for Carlisle by taking 3-27 with Josh Stirling supporting with 3-40.

Cleator started just as badly, slipping to 50-3 before James Rogers (54) and Abdul Muzammil (21) stopped the rot.
They had looked well out of it at 120-9 however until an unbroken last wicket stand between Adam Meagan (19no) and Ben Wishart (12no) took them a bit closer to their target before finishing on 152-9 after the 50 overs.
Khurana took 3-35 for Millom as the win consolidated their top six place.
