The West Cumbria Amalgamation result sheet was again dominated by fanciers in the Derwent Valley Federation.
Billy Cottier, the West Cumberland Fed winner, was 14th with nine other lofts gaining positions in the top 40.
The Workington loft of Les Cape topped the Amalgamation, winning both the Workington Victoria and Workington Social Limit clubs with a blue hen.
She was bred off a Herman Ceuster cock from the Taylor brothers of Newbiggin and a hen from Sugar Wilson of Egremont.
Bob Taylor (no relation), had purchased birds from the Taylor brothers and this Amalgamation winner was off one. Les and his late son Michael had a few birds over the years from Sugar who had been a top racer in the West Cumberland Federation before retiring from active racing.
Les is continuing the good work started by Michael, and he has also given special thanks to Alan Greenbank who has taken the time to help him train his young birds this season.
The Amalgamation birds were liberated at 11.01am on Sunday and the Cape winner was clocked at 12.45pm after the 98-miles fly, covering the distance at 57 mph.

Age is no barrier to successful pigeon racing as Billy Cottier of Whitehaven is proving at the moment.
Billy was celebrating a West Cumberland Federation winner on Sunday, a week after he had won the West Section in a Red Rose Federation (North West) race from Nantwich.
Billy is 91 years old and a lifelong pigeon fancier, but who has had to cope with the recent death of race partner Barry Patrickson.
Barry’s sister Tracey now helps around the loft along with long-established helper Billy Henderson.
The veteran fancier topped the Fed from Appleton 2 with a blue cock in what proved to be a good result for the Sandwith club with ten of the first 14 positions on the sheet.
The bird was a gift from Barry Kegg and was bred from Steve Chambers’ top stock birds.
The Dobson brothers were flying high in the Cleator Moor club with first and second arriving at the same time and going over the pad together.
The mealy was bred by Martindale and Lawman from their good breeding stock while the blue hen was bred in their own stock loft through birds obtained from Leach brothers.

Egremont club winners David Harrison and son Stephen were successful with the same blue Ceuster cock that won from the first Lymm. He has had three races and won two of them while his brother also won Charnock.
The sire is bred out of Mal Scotts No1 stock cock “Bret x G/dtr of Kittle” and the dam out of a g/son of “Goede Red” .
