In a pulsating Cumbrian derby Barrow snatched victory at Whitehaven with a Ryan Johnston drop goal in the last minute.
The 23-22 victory moved the Raiders out of the drop zone and above both Swinton and Keighley ahead of their testing trip to Toulouse at the week-end.
Barrow had made a flying start when Whitehaven knocked-on at the kick-off and from their possession skipper Jarrad Stack drove over for the opening try which Ryan Shaw converted.
Whitehaven hit back after ten minutes when a great ball from former Barrow half-back Jake Carter put Oscar Doran over in the corner for an unconverted try.
Carter, excelling against his former team-mates, was an increasingly influential player for Whitehaven in what was a hard, physical and intense game of Championship rugby.

Barrow increased their lead on 23 minutes when it was the turn of a former Whitehaven winger to excel as Andrew Bulman got over after Barrow had been able to prosper from a penalty.
Then in a remarkable finish to the half Haven scored twice inside seven minutes to go into the break with a 14-10 lead.

First it was Connor Holliday who got over for only his second try of the season and right on the hooter some magical play by Jamie Doran set up a third Haven try for Carter which Josh Rourke improved.
Barrow regained the lead early in the second-half when Tom Wilkinson scored the Raiders’ third try and Shaw converted.
Chris Taylor was close to going in for Haven but when they were awarded a penalty Rourke put it over to level the score at 16-16.

Barrow then regained the lead on 59 minutes when Ben Evans got over for the try which was converted by Shaw.
But six minutes later it was all square again when Ryan King powered over for a try which Rourke converted.

Then at the death an interception by Barrow gave them possession in the last minute and Ryan Johnston landed a field goal to win it for the Raiders.
