Penrith have painful memories of their last visit to Brunton Park in May as they prepare to return on Saturday.
Darren Edmondson’s men were beaten 9-1 by Workington Reds in the Fred Conway County Cup final and this time take on Pickering Town in the FA Vase.
Penrith played at Carlisle City’s ground in their first FA Cup-tie and as their Frenchfield pitch is still being upgraded they have had to look around for alternative venues.
“We know how big Brunton Park is so that will influence our preparations this week.
“There are still players away as August always presents those kind of holiday situations. That has affected consistency in selection which I think has contributed to performances,” said Edmondson.
The Bonny Blues should have been at home on Saturday in the FA Cup but had to play away at Consett and lost 3-0.
“If I’m being honest that was probably a fair reflection., We had chances in each half but couldn’t take them while Consett were more physical and had more quality.
“That’s the sort of game where we have to take it and move on. The FA Vase is a good competition and we will be looking to progress,” he added.
Penrith officials are hoping that Carlisle United fans will swell the crowd as the Blues are away on Saturday in League One at Port Vale.
