Windscale look for a third successive win tonight but their home game in the Wearside League has been switched to Workington’s Borough Park (ko 8pm).
The Falcon Ground has issues with the lights so the Reds have stepped in for tonight’s fixture against Norton and Stockton Ancients.
Joint manager Stephen Fawcett will miss tonight’s game through illness but said he is expecting a tough conterst against a Norton side which finished fourth last season.
They and Windscale both have four points so far but Norton’s have come from three games whereas the Cumbrians have played four.
Fawcett said: “Like many teams we are still suffering from holiday season to an extent and also have some players missing through injury.
“August is always a busy period and playing two games a week always asks a lot of the squad. We should have a full squad of 16 tonight though and it gives lads coming into the team an opportunity to impress.
“It’s been a mixed start for us. We’ve won our last two games away at Willington (mid-week, which adds to the challenge) and followed that with a comfortable victory over Wolviston at home on Saturday in the Cup.
“I’m hoping this can be the start of some consistency as pior to that we’ve not really managed to hit the levels we’re aiming for.
“We’ve lost two of four League games so far but it’s early days and nothing is won or lost in August. It’s just about building momentum.
“Tonight our opponents are a well established team that always compete. They’ve won, drawn and lost so far so you could say they’re in a similar position to us trying to kick-start their campaign.
“We will have to do everything well to get the result and use playing at home (albeit not our usual home tonight) to our advantage as we know full well how difficult it is to travel mid-week.
“I’d just like to thank Workington Reds for the use of their ground and facilities. It is much appreciated.”
