Aspatria to lose two talented players

Aspatria are losing two talented backs next season after they signed for Tynedale.

But all at the Bower Park club are delighted that Ryan Scott and Joe Beaty’s skills and performances are being recognised at a higher level as Tynedale play at Level 4 in the English Rugby Pyramid.

Aspatria official Barney Clegg said: “Both players fully deserve this opportunity to test themselves at a higher level and Tynedale can provide this as an established club, operating in the National Leagues.

“Joe and Ryan leave Bower Park with the best wishes of all at the club.  Joe’s silky running and Ryan’s uncompromising centre play will be missed by Aspatria but the club coaching team are confident that they have adequate cover for the two vacated positions.”

Aspatria had a joint training session with Kendal on Wednesday which was used by both sets of coaches to finalise both attack and defence formations.

Clegg added: “It proved very useful and more importantly avoided any injuries so we should be near enough at full strength for our opening game at Middlesbrough.

“We were de to host Eccles on Saturday but they had to withdraw due to a Lancashire Cup commitment. Overall we are happy with our preparations and the depth of the squad.”
