Cumbria’s Helen Skelton is among the stars who have teamed up with Disney Princess to help empower youngsters.
Disney is also working with role models GB Olympians Alice Dearing and Jessica Gadirova to help young girls and boys try new skills, encourage curiosity, and find their wonder.
Helen, who lives in Eden, has filmed a webisode for Disney’s Youtube channel, sharing the importance of trying new things and how young children can build their confidence.

It follows new research which suggests half of parents believe their children lose their ‘sense of wonder’ before the age of six and Disney has created free tools for parents including a Wonder List and Wonder Webisodes inspired by Disney Princess storytelling.

In the Wonder Webisodes, the role models share insight into their own wonder and experience taking inspiration from Disney Princess stories.
Parents and children can follow Jessica recount the moment she discovered her passion for gymnastics, Alice share her passion for encouraging children to learn swimming from a young age, and learn how Helen grew up embracing her love for the outdoors.

Choosing bravery and adventure with Moana, Helen said: “When I was growing up, exploring the outdoors and immersing myself in nature provided such great opportunities for exploration and curiosity, so I’m thrilled to be teaming up with Disney Princess to encourage children to do the same.

“Like Moana, I embraced adventure to discover my inner strength and by sharing my Wonder Webisode I hope to inspire parents, who are nurturing young minds, to take their children on new and exciting adventures.

“Together with Disney Princess, we can help spark imagination, grow confidence and keep that sense of wonder in children magic alive a little longer.”
