A man has been jailed for two years for a child sexual assault.
Peter Wood, 53, of no fixed address, admitted the offence, which happened in June this year in Silloth.
He was charged with non-penetrative sexual activity with a child.
He was sentenced at Carlisle Crown Court today to two years in prison, told to register with police in accordance with the Sexual Offences Act 2003 for 10 years and is subject to a sexual harm prevention order for 10 years.
Temporary Detective Constable Georgia Skelton, Carlisle & Wigton CID, said: “We are pleased that we have been able to secure a conviction in this case.
“Peter Wood held no regard for the impact his actions would have on the victim in this case when he committed this offence.
“I would like to thank the victim for their bravery in reporting what happened to them and assisting our investigation.
“We are committed to bringing offenders to justice and will do all we can to ensure they are held to account.”
