
Workington Reds Reserves put the opening day defeat behind them and comfortably won 5-1 against Carlisle City Development in the Cumberland County League Premier.
The League had started a fortnight ago but took a break last week-end because of the Bank Holiday.
The young Reds proved too strong for their City opponents and won with goals from Tyler Harrell, Luke Knowles, Evan Stephenson, Alfie Schofield and Harry Watson. Nathan Cox netted City’s consolation goal.
Kie Fitton scored a hat-trick for Unisun Athletic in a 6-1 win over Cleator Moor Celtic reserves. Dorin Covaci and Jake Nicholson were also on target while they also had the assistance of an own goal.
The Celtic’s consolation goal was scored by Marcus Atkinson.
Aspatria made it two wins from two games as they were 3-1 victors against Maryport Athletic.
A double from Richard Hudson and one from Dan Pearson maintained Aspatria 100 per cent record with Ciaran Booty netting Maryport’s goal.
A goal each from Carl and Liam Lightfoot earned Wigton Harriers a point from their 2-2 draw with Gosforth. Jack Denwood and Joe Dorgan scored for the West Cumbrians.
In the Cumberland County League Division One, Cockermouth were 6-0 winners against Bransty Rangers. A hat-trick from Luke Graham, a double from Mark Campbell and a Mike Graham goal earned them the three points.
Elsewhere, Keswick earned themselves their first ever County League victory after Jamie Little (2), Alfie West (2) and Richard Bannister goals ensured a 5-0 away win at Silloth.
Windscale Reserves were also high scorers on Saturday after defeating Whitehaven Miners Social Development 5-1 with Kieran Frazer, Jack Harrison, Kian Hoey, Bobby Fitzpatrick and Darren Donald all finding the net. They even provided Miners with their consolation from an own goal.
Two goals from Joe Martin gave Whitehaven AFC Reserves a 2-1 win against Dearham United. Danny Dryden was on the scoresheet for Dearham who entertain Bransty Rangers on Tuesday evening, kick off 6.15pm.
