Plans for a 49ft telecoms mast in Carlisle have been submitted to Cumberland Council.
The site is on land next to Botcherby Community Centre in Warwick Road, opposite supermarket Lidl.
It would have six antennas as well as two equipment cabinets and an electric meter cabinet.
Reading-based CK Hutchison Networks (UK) submitted the planning application and the applicant has already received pre-application advice about it from the council.
The authority does have some concerns with the siting of the mast as it is near a Grade II-listed World War One memorial.
It added: “The proposed mast could therefore adversely affect the setting of the listed structure and any forthcoming application in this location would require a heritage statement.
“The ward councillor has also raised their concerns to us over the siting in relation to the memorial and expects public objections to a mast.”
The feedback has suggested siting the mast further to the west, near Premier Inn, where there is a backdrop of trees but away from the listed memorial and homes.
The application is currently under consideration by officers in the council’s planning department.
