Two cats are struggling to find loving homes in Cumbria because they’re too shy.
TT and Peppy have been in the care of Cats Protection’s Eskdale & District Branch since their owners died suddenly, leaving them behind.
Twelve-year-old TT has been without a new home since December last year and is patiently waiting for someone to notice her.
The tortoiseshell moggy lived a charmed life with her elderly owner until their passing last year – so she would thrive best in a quiet household.
Eskdale & District branch coordinator Ginnie said: “TT has been spending her days with one of our volunteer fosterers who can vouch for her coming out of her shell once she gets to know you.
“For a mature cat she is pretty sprightly and enjoys spending time outside. Her only ailment is an overactive thyroid, a common condition in older cats, and this is treated with liquid medication twice a day, which is put on her food. She loves her food so takes this with no fuss.”
Black-and-white Peppy, has remained in care for over 130 days after the death of her owner.
Ginnie added: “Peppy is a beautiful nine-year-old lady who was extremely timid when she first came to us as she was feeling lost following the death of her owner. However, with love and patience from her foster mum Peppy is coming out of her shell and we would like her to have an owner who will spend time getting to know her as she gets to know you.
“Our small band of volunteer fosterers work incredibly hard getting these cats settled into a new routine where they can feel safe and secure, but the aim is always to get them rehomed as quickly as possible so they begin the next phase of their lives.
“We know from many of the quiet cats we have rehomed that once they arrive in their forever home they thrive, come out of their shell and reward you with love and cuddles. It’s wonderful to see how they blossom.”
Peppy has been comfortable meeting young children, so would be suited to most family set-ups. Both cats are vaccinated, neutered and microchipped.
