Workington Comets complete their National Development League programme tomorrow at Northside against Kent Royals.
Two of the regular riders are, however, sidelined with injuries and the Comets have booked a guest while also operating rider replacement.
Ace Pijper misses out with a fractured elbow while Sam McGurk is also sidelined with a fractured knee cap.
Dayle Wood has been booked as a guest for Pijper while the Comets will operate rider replacement for McGurk.
Wood is a 28-year-old Australian from Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, who has been riding for the Edinburgh Monarchs Academy in his first season of British speedway.
He has raced motorcycles since the age of six before transitioning to speedway in 2018 having always watched and loved the sport. He is a British passport holder with a British mother.
Ironically his last match for the Monarchs was at Kent on Sunday when he scored five riding at number four.
Fellow Australian Connor Bailey will be riding at Northside before dashing to Poland for Sunday’s Polish Eskraliga final for Wroclaw alongside West Cumbrian star Dan Bewley, and will be mounted on the injured Tai Woffinden’s machinery.
