A wander down memory lane

rugby team Cockermouth Grammar School

It started with a ratch through some old photographs and ended with a hundred names and memories come flooding back.

I was looking for some pictures to show my grand-daughter who had asked what I looked like when I was at school.

I don’t think she could picture this particular old codger well into his eighth decade, being anything other than an old codger well into his eighth decade.

The three photos that came to hand were taken at Ellenborough Junior School (around 1954), Cockermouth Grammar School (rugby team 1959) and Cockermouth Grammar School (form picture 1961).

Ellenborough Junior School

The remarkable thing was that she picked me out on all three photographs, when I actually thought she wouldn’t manage any.

Cockermouth Grammar School

That set me off on a night of reminiscing, some of which you can hear here…..
