A series of roadshows to explain the thinking behind a new pyramid system of League cricket in Cumbria will continue tonight at Carlisle’s Edenside.
The opening event was held at the Workington club last night when about 50 enthusiasts from various clubs attended.
The new system, which has the outline approval of the Leagues involved, is being explained to member clubs for their reaction, comments and verdicts on the proposals.
Essentially the new structure would not come into effect until 2025 and the Eden Valley League, the Westmorland League and the West Cumbria League would stay the same next year.
The ECB Cumbria Premier Division would be tier one and Cumbria Division One would be tier two.
There are two regionalised Leagues in Tier three – Westmorland League Division One and Eden Valley Premier Division.
Tier four constitutes Westmorland League Division Two and Eden Valley Division One, while Tier five is made-up of Westmorland League Division Three and Eden Valley Division Two.
Sunday teams below here, operating in the West Cumbria League, will be classed as Tier six.
There is no suggestion at this stage that Penrith, Netherfield, Kendal and Barrow will be joining the new pyramid structure.
However, the other roadshows are being held at Barrow on Wednesday night and at Netherfield on Monday (both 7pm to 8.30pm.)
