Penrith are on the road seeking their first win in the Regional 1 North West League on Saturday.
The Winters Park side went down 34-17 at home to Manchester last week to remain at the foot of the table with just a single point.
Next on the agenda are Northwich who have one win in three games and six points, but who were well beaten 47-20 at Kendal last Saturday.
No doubt Dave Preston will have checked with his opposite number at Mint Bridge, Dan Bowman, about the opposition ahead of the trip into Cheshire.
Kendal, up to third in the table under new head coach Bowman, are also away and will fancy their chances of putting more pressure on Blackburn and Macclesfield, the two sides three points better off at the top of the League.
They are also in Cheshire to take on Sandbach, who along with Penrith are the only two sides without a win so far. But they have two losing bonus points, against Penrith’s one try bonus point.
In Regional Two North West Kirkby Lonsdale went down 61-17 at Firwood Waterloo and after last season’s relegation do at least have one win to their name this time round.
They face an interesting test at Winnington Park, level on points but one of three teams below them in the table.
It hasn’t been a brilliant start in Regional 2 North for our Cumbrian sides with Aspatria, Keswick and Cockermouth forming the bottom three.
Keswick and Cockermouth still have to pick-up a first point of the season while Aspatria are on four points after last week’s excellent 24-10 home win over Northern.
It’s the first derby of the season this week with Cockermouth hosting Aspatria while Keswick entertain Middlesbrough.
Upper Eden have proved the exception to the rule and have started the season very well, currently fourth in the table.
After two fine wins they were mugged at Durham City, losing 15-14 to a penalty two minutes from time.
On Saturday they have the perfect opportunity to bounce back in style as they host Percy Park in the League’s match of the day.
In Counties 1 Cumbria as expected Carlisle are out in front but for the moment they have three sides breathing down their necks.
Just a point behind are Workington, Aspatria 2nds and St. Benedict’s – and two of them clash.
Fallen giants Workington have encouraged hopes of a revival with two good wins but face a test at St Benedict’s.
Aspatria 2nds, new to this level, travel to Keswick 2nds, where they will face a young side who did well against St Benedict’s but were blown away at Wigton.
Leaders Carlisle will be looking to make it three wins from three games at home to Windermere.
The other games are: Creighton v Whitehaven; Hawcoat Park v Millom; Penrith 2nds v Egremont
