Carlisle United remain hovering over the drop zone as Derby County gained their third away with a 2-0 victory at Brunton Park.
Both goals were scored by James Collins and the Republic of Ireland international was taking his total to 200 in club football.
The opening goal from Collins came on 18 minutes when he was on the spot to thump home a clever cut-back from Nathaniel Mendez-Laing.
He almost had an instant double when he got on the end of another good ball just outside the box but this time shot over.
But Carlisle might have been level soon afterwards when Derby keeper Joe Wildsmith was saved by the bar when he mishandled a powerful shot from Jordan Gibson.
Then in stoppage time at the end of the half Luke Plange went close with a snap shot which hit a post.
Derby had the first chance in the second-half when Eiran Cashin should hagve done better than head wide at the far post.
The goal that clinched the points came six minutes from time and was knocked home by Collins from the penalty spot.
Collins had actually got to the ball ahead of United keeper Jokull Andresson only to be bundled over by the Icelander. He got up to fire home the penalty.
