Tuesday saw the second in the series of three trails at Dearham and the weather had picked up so it looked set for a good night’s trailing.
The seniors got things underway with a real class field of all the top hounds. Punters were spoiled for choice regarding which hound to put their money on.
Winterfell was the odds-on favourite followed by Silver Streak who was 7/2. Miterdale Duchess was also running.
At the half-way point reports were coming back onto the field that Winterfell was in front and running well.
He was still there at the last road before they climb up towards Tallentire before turning to come back to the trail field.
As the hounds showed there were two light coloured hounds with a slight lead. Speculation was that Winterfell was still in the lead but as they cleared the last fence it was Silver Streak and kennel mate Silver Dream who had stepped up from the puppy trail again.
Silver Streak crossed the line in first place followed by Silver Dream who had run another cracking race over the longer distance.
Alan Blacklock’s Busy Again finished well in third place followed home in fourth by Winterfell. Perhaps the run on Sunday had taken a little more out of him and he had found the second half of the trail a bit much.
Foxparke Beep Beep finished well in fifth place with the last ticket going to Strawberry Mick.

Silver Streak had been 7/2 in the bookies ring with Silver Dream 5/1 and Busy Again 6/1.
Next to slip were the open pups with a smaller field of 11 runners. Rodney Raider hadn’t run at the weekend so had been rested in advance of the trail.
He was odds on 4/6 favourite in the bookies ring and as they came back onto the finish Rodney Raider had a slight advantage over Artist.
As they came to the line Rodney Raider just pulled away slightly and crossed the line with a yard or so to spare with Artist finishing in second place for Bill and Pat Mellon and Robert and Tina Airey.

Les and Graham Reid’s Mel finished well in third place and James McClelland’s Glamorous Ava took fourth.
The Foxparke team bagged another ticket with Fair Lady in fifth with Graham Reid’s other hound Money Talk’s taking the sixth ticket.
The win for Rodney Raider takes him six points clear of closest rival Embrace who finished just outside the ticketing hounds.
The win for the Dearham kennel gave them a double win on the night with Silver Streak and Rodney Raider plus a second also in the senior trail.
The last race of the night was the open maidens with a slip of 20 runners.
In the bookies ring it was an open field with Eden Romina at 5/2, Foxparke Dealer and Foxparke Rumour at 7/2.
As they showed it was Eden Romina who had a slight lead from Foxparke Dealer, but Eden Romina came away to cross the line three or four lengths clear of her rival.

Samcro finished third for Tania Satterthwaite with the Hill’s Buster Moon finishing well in fourth place.
The last two tickets of the night went to the Foxparke kennel with Danny Elliot and Majesty.
The win for Eden Romina is her first win in the open maiden grade having had five seconds. She is now clear in that particular points competition and it is very unlikely that anything will catch her now.
The last meeting of the season at Fellside is on Thursday with the first of three trails slipping at 4.30pm.
