Cockermouth’s Gareth White was the leading amateur batsman in the Cumbria League’s Premier Division last season.
Not only was he the leading run scorer (768) but he also had the highest average of 54.86.
That wasn’t bad for a player who reported at the start it would be his last season and who suffered badly from tennis elbow?
The only man ahead of him in the averages was the Furness professional Yash Dubey with an average of 61.88 and 990 runs.
Four professionals were in the top six positions with Keswick’s Paul Hindmarch the second leading amateur on 45.75 and 549 runs.
The other leading professionals were Vathsal Govind (Egremont) 51.89 and 467 runs; Risith Upamal (Keswick) 48.47 and 727 runs and Terance Warde (Whitehaven) 44.71 and 626 runs.
Champions Carlisle had three players in the top four of the bowling averages led by skipper Michael Slack with 32 wickets at 10.22.
Nico Watt was the leading wicket-taker with 37 wickets and third in the averages with 13.11 while Chris Blythe was fourth with 29 wickets at 12.72.
Splitting the Carlisle trio in second place was Matthew Siddall of Cockermouth with 26 wickets at 12.08.
