Carlisle College has held its annual awards event, recognising the effort and achievements of learners and staff.
The awards, sponsored by Cumberland Council, saw 10 students win categories including Outstanding Learner Achievement, Adult Learner of the Year and the Maths and English Award.
Award categories were sponsored by University of Cumbria, Pioneer Foodservice, Carlisle Skills Fair, Inspira and Cumbria Crack.
Winners were selected from a high number of nominations which had been received from teaching staff and considered their achievement against key indicators such as attendance, behaviour and standard of work as well as the challenges they may have faced and overcome during their studies.
Telappliant, formerly connexions Group, was named Employer of the Year, recognising its ongoing support in providing industry placements for students and allowing those individuals to develop skills, experience and knowledge first hand in the work place.
Sarah McGrath, principal of Carlisle College said, “It’s great to be hosting our college award ceremony once again. It’s a great opportunity to highlight exceptional individuals and celebrate the commitment and dedication shown by our learners, which has been outstanding.
“This is also the first time we have incorporated our staff awards into the event, but it’s been really fitting for us all to come together to formally recognise everyone’s achievements and celebrate those that work hard to support the college and shown commitment to excellence.”
The evening was supported by Carlisle College’s catering and hospitality students who provided a buffet for over 70 guests.
