Whitehaven were back to winning ways in the West Lancashire League when they beat Poulton 3-2 at the County Ground.
It was a welcome return to form after a disappointing defeat last week at Tempest and allowed them to leapfrog their opponents into 11th position.
Goals from Thomas Houghton, George Frampton and Owen Woodburn gave Whitehaven their victory.
First team coach Carl Short said: “It was really pleasing to see a great reaction following the previous week’s disappointment.
“We had 23 players available this week-end with an average age of 23 in the squad which is so refreshing for us as a club.
“I thought we were really good for the win against a decent Poulton side and are building the right way.
“We go into a Cup game on Saturday at Lostock St Gerard’s who are third in the table and we will have plenty of opportunities to rotate.”
