A man was assaulted with a baseball bat in Carlisle on Monday afternoon.
The incident happened at the junction of Citadel Row with English Street in Carlisle just after 1.30pm.
It is reported a man was assaulted by another man with a baseball bat. The victim suffered significant bruising and injuries to his knee.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the assault and the moments that followed.
A spokesman said: “We would especially like to speak to a woman believed to have witnessed the incident, who came over from the bus stop across the road to assist the victim, and three students, aged about 17 or 18 who were also in the area.”
