Keswick were beaten 21-16 at home by Northern in Regional 2 North but could feel a little hard done by.
It was a very even match, and Keswick can consider themselves unlucky not to have come away with the win.
There were a couple of decisions when the referee ruled that the ball had been held above the try line but there is no doubt that the team continues to improve each week.
From the first whistle, Keswick were on the attack and pressured the Northern line with Stephen Moss leading the way in the pack supported by Aaron Thompson.
They were rewarded with a penalty which was converted by Kieran Mewse after nine minutes but against the run of play Northern came back straight away. After a number of forward drives they eventually went between the posts for a converted try to take the lead.
This galvanised Keswick, who again got the upper hand and a few minutes before half-time, after deciding to kick for the corner, drove over from the line-out with Thompson coming up as try scorer.
Mewse, converted from the touchline to give Keswick the lead, which was added to just before half-time with a Mewse penalty to give Keswick a 13-7 lead at the break.
The second half began as a very even contest with Northern just edging the breakdowns.
They took the lead again with a converted try through their forwards after 20 minutes in the second half.
Unfortunately Keswick then had injuries to key players, but continued to press with captain George Holme leading from the front with some solid straight runs.
He was well supported by Olly Macpherson who was finding gaps in the Northern line.
Once more against the run of play, however, Northern counter-attacked and were successful with another converted try ten 10 minutes from the end.
Once more, Keswick responded and continued to attack which led to Northern conceding another penalty, which was converted by Mewse to take Keswick to within five points of the Northern score.
The Lakeland side continued to press but Northern defended strongly right up to the final whistle and the hosts had to settle for a losing bonus point.
