A large flock of seagulls strutted around Frenchfield watching the invaluable volunteers set up for another parkrun and awaiting those for whom 5k on a Saturday morning is their preferred way to kick off the weekend.
One of those is regular Pat Evans, who, at a little north of 70, says it is the perfect way to start the day!
People come from all around the world for Penrith parkrun and Emily Dixon flew in from Boston in America to surprise her mother on her 60th birthday.
Her brother, Henry, joined her from London, Emily running only her second parkrun, and Henry, his third. Both achieved PBs too! Emily was going to look for her local parkrun in Boston when she returns.
Doug Lloyd and Marg Leddin, keen parkrunners from Wodonga in Victoria, Australia very much enjoyed Penrith parkrun and especially the tea and coffee after. They head home on Monday and are going to suggest refreshments at their home parkrun.
There is always a shout out in the pre-run briefing for those achieving milestones.

First up is volunteer, Caz Burns doing her 250th stint. Caz usually hands out the tokens at the finish and is often teased for dropping them.
Caz reckons that she has handed out over 50,000 tokens, and in all this time, has only dropped the tokens once. Thank you Caz for your brilliant efforts!
Paul McKeown and Helen Tyson were running their 200th parkruns. Helen and her family are very often to be found marshalling somewhere on the course but today the family were running round in support of Helen.
As ever, parkrun would not happen without the wonderful volunteers who make it all happen for the 247 runners, joggers and walkers who took part in our 425th parkrun. To find out more about Penrith parkrun go to https://www.parkrun.org.uk/penrith or follow us on FaceBook.
