The top two teams in the First Division of the Carlisle Billiards League clashed this week.
Inter Qzone held an eight point advantage over their hosts, last season’s champions, The Rock.
The opening match was a tense, but high quality affair, between two of the best players in the city, with Inter’s Welsh international player Peter Stanyer getting the better of Paul Cowing 120-118.
In the second frame, Mally Lancaster got himself ahead early on, as Mike Griffiths struggled to get used to the table.
However Griffiths soon settled and got Inter Qzone 2-0 up with a 120-50 success.
The win was secured for the table toppers in another close match when Simon Towns went to the table 90-95 behind, but three classy shots, including a 7-pointer on the final shot saw him over the line.
Lawrence Swan pulled one back for the Rock, showing why he is regarded so highly by his compatriots, winning 100-83 over Michael Waring.
Dave Midgley completed the scoring for Inter Qzone with a resounding win, 100-68. A couple of high teen breaks allowed ‘Midge’ to break away when needed.
Final score, Rock 1, Inter Qzone 6.
