A West Cumbrian pensioner has been jailed for 12 years for a series of indecent assaults that date back to the 1980s and 1990s.
Donald Eaton, 73, of Beck Green, Egremont, was sentenced today at Carlisle Crown Court for 13 offences against one victim that occurred in 1988 and 1991 in Whitehaven.
Eaton was found guilty on Wednesday.
Detective Constable Debi Gilmour said: “It’s never too late to report a crime. No matter how much time has passed we will do our best to investigate the crimes committed on behalf of the victims.
“Support is also available, and the Constabulary works closely with trusted partner agencies to provide the appropriate support, which is tailored to an individual’s circumstances.
“Taking that first step to telling somebody what has happened to you is often the most difficult.
“But please know that if you do, you will be provided with information which will enable you to make choices on how you wish to move forward.”
