A total of 20 people were given dispersal orders by police in Carlisle over the weekend after several incidents of anti-social behaviour.
It was one of the biggest weekends in the city’s calendar and 40,000 people attended the fireshow in Bitts Park.
Police were given extra powers to ask people engaging in anti-social behaviour to leave the area and not return on Saturday and Sunday.
If people do return, they run the risk of being arrested.
On Saturday, 12 people were handed orders and eight were given the orders on Sunday evening.
Inspector Andy Leather, of Carlisle neighbourhood policing team, said “Over the weekend we saw several incidents of anti-social behaviour, some of these included the use of bangers and fireworks aimed at members of the public.
“This is not only inconsiderate to those enjoying the festivities of bonfire night but extremely dangerous.
“Fireworks can cause serious harm if not used appropriately, and those engaging in this behaviour put people at risk of harm.
“The incidents we saw over the weekend will not be tolerated and those dispersed last night and on Saturday will be receiving a home visit from the neighbourhood policing team.
“We would encourage parents and carers to speak to young people about the impact of their behaviour, ask them where they are and what they are doing.”
Officers also carried out 13 stop and searches on Saturday with one man found in possession of cannabis and a number of fireworks seized.
A 16-year-old arrested on suspicion of attempted criminal damage has been released under investigation.
