Remembrance Day was marked by a very special game between Kells and the British Army.
The Army came out on top 22-6 after a very competitive game played in the right spirit.
There was an early breakthrough from the Army when Joeli Varo went in for an unconverted try on four minutes.
Kells got in front after ten minutes when Grant Gainford scored a try, converted by brother Ross Gainford.
However by half-time the Army had regained the lead with Varo’s second try which was converted by Kieran Fleming.
The visitors had the tonic of a third try from Peceli Sugavanus, converted by Fleming eight minutes into the second half.
The only further score came in the dying seconds when Aaron Houghton dived in for the fourth Army try, again converted by Fleming.
Kells coach Peter Smith said: “It was a tough game and we trailed at half-time to two interception tries.
“In the second half we did all the pushing but couldn’t get over the line. Right on the final whistle the Army scored their fourth try to rubber stamp their win.
“It was a really competitive game but was played in the right spirit for Remembrance Day.”
