Kendal Town are intent on chasing down North West Counties leaders Bury over the second half of the season.
The Mintcakes trail by three points with a game in hand as they have completed 21 of their 46 fixtures.
Chairman Michael O’Neill said: “That’s the target, although of course Wythenshawe are still very much involved with one or two others.
“But we’re very happy with how things have been going. To be second approaching the halfway stage is very good and we are hoping for a big finish to the season.
“Winning at Lytherland is never easy. But we were pegged back twice and came through with a third goal to win it.
“I have to say that our new recruit on loan from Lancaster, Patrick Allington was awesome. He headed everything tht went into the box.
“Jacob Gregory and Dan Gray twice put us in front and we needed a Steve Yawson goal to win it.”
Kendal’s scheduled home League game tonight with West Didsbury and Chorlton has been called-off because of the visitors involvement in the Lancashire Challenge Trophy.
The Mintcakes are next in action on Saturday when they travel to Burscough in the second round of the Macron Cup.
*Meanwhile Kendal have added to the club committee with the appointment of Mark Smith, owner of the Albion Social and Snooker Club.
